The ballroom, covered in mirrors and streamers, played host to a seated dinner for the birthday girl and her Dalton classmates, and afterward a dance floor as the adult crowd made their entry, including celebrity friends of her designer father like Mick Jagger, Carly Simon and more. Upon entering, guests were greeted by the dramatic scene of seven black tie dressed pianists playing seven white pianos - a clear sign straight from the start that money was no object. Held at Studio 54, the end-all-be-all of historic NYC nightlife venues, Marci's Sweet Sixteen was the event of the year. But back in the eighties? This New York City kid was the talk of the town for her over-the-top birthday bash.

Your budget implies that 'flying' is an option, and it is a reasonable 800 miles to Charleston from, say, Little Rock.
You've likely/possibly already done "Nashville", and that would depend largely on whether you yourself are into country music. Going too far north in November is questionable (of course the weather is wacky these days, so perhaps by then 'going too far SOUTH' will be the questionable part) Of course I want it to be someplace you've never been before, so I don't know those parameters, and I think the most awesome part is just being able to remember something you shared with your MOM (and that she cared enough to make it happen). Wow, I would be soooooooooooooooooo proud of myself if I magically came up with ***THE*** answer for this one, and I'm thinking hard, and staring at the map here.
